2pm, Saturday 4 July 2026, Fieldtrip to Trewavas, then and now: A Guided Walk’ to see the mining history and geology with Stephen Polglase
Please register on the link: (tbc shortly).
Meet 2pm in the NT car park at Rinsey. The walk usually takes around 2 hours. Wear good walking shoes/boots and come ready for sun (hat, water, suncream) or rain (waterproofs).
We will walk down to Wheal Prosper giving a little history of that mine then take the lower cliff path to Trewavas, which takes in the local geological features, granite killas contact etc then on to Trewavas viewing the lower engine house and the mine layout from the cliff above giving a great view of the Megiliggar Rocks rocks. Then continue on the coast path to the higher engine house. Return to the car park via the higher coastal path through the fields, which involves climbing a steep style over the hedge, so participants need to be reasonably agile to return this route.
We may well convene for a drink at a local venue.
